Who We Are
Change is at the heart of the landscape business. Similar to the plants we install, Browder-Hite has grown and flourished. Originally founded in 2003 as Eastern Shore Landscape Management, Browder-Hite has steadily grown and developed an excellent reputation for quality of work, creative design, innovative solutions, and friendly faces.
Making Elva & Mary Proud
When rebranding the company in 2015, President Benjamin Lewis looked to his grandmothers for inspiration, combining their maiden names to form Browder-Hite. As ‘children of the Depression,’ both Mary & Elva had to rely on self-determination, hard work, and sacrifice in order to thrive. Those values guide Benjamin today, and it’s the qualities we look for when welcoming new team members into the Browder-Hite family.
“While our name honors my grandmothers, it’s the people of Browder-Hite who make the difference.”
– Benjamin Lewis, President
The Browder-Hite Team

President & Founder
Benjamin is the President and founder of Browder-Hite.
From its humble beginnings out of Benjamin’s home in 2003, he has grown the company to become one of the region’s largest providers of landscape design, installation, and maintenance to residential and commercial clients alike. Operating out of multiple locations with experienced staff, Benjamin guides a firm that now offers complete turn-key options for every outdoor issue a homeowner or property manager may encounter.
Benjamin received his BA from Greensboro College and MA from Florida State University.
Operations Manager/Irrigation Leader
A man of the outdoors, Paul grew up in Central Maryland farm country and worked in local dairy and grain operations through his early 20’s. From there he honed his contracting skills while building custom homes, grading land and farms and installing high end additions in greater Montgomery County, MD.
In 2002, Paul founded and ran a successful commercial property management firm, specializing in multi-family units. It was during this time that he achieved the impressive personal distinction of becoming a licensed Merchant Mariner Captain of the United States Coast Guard in 2011. “The classroom, practical and testing sessions were grueling, but when I received my license, it was all worth it,” he recalled.
Paul is a Virginia certified pesticide applicator and certified Rain Bird irrigation installer.
An avid outdoorsman and adopted Southerner (now that he calls VA home), Paul enjoys boating, fishing, clamming, hunting, and spending time with his family and twin nephews.
Fertilization & Chemical Services
“Wayno” is responsible for all fertilization, herbicide, insecticide, and seed applications at Browder Hite. With a background in law enforcement and farm/ag supply, Wayno uses his excellent knowledge of the Eastern Shore to deliver outstanding results to clients. His friendly and outgoing demeanor make everyone he comes in contact with feel at ease. There’s not too many weed or bug issues he hasn’t seen and if he doesn’t have an answer, he’s quick to find one. Wayno is a proud Nandua High School graduate.
He enjoys spending quality time with his son fishing and enjoying the great Eastern Shore outdoors.
Director of Horticulture
Kimberly has been landscaping the Eastern Shore for almost 20 years..
Kimberly’s philosophy of design is to create not just “pretty” spaces but rather areas that function well together. As she likes to say, “If the client doesn’t use the space, you haven’t done your job as a designer”. As the former owner of a leading local landscape firm, she knows how to guide projects from concept to completion. Kimberly has worked with many homeowners on the Shore, creating a diverse portfolio of landscapes from Bay-friendly native spaces to formal Williamsburg gardens. In addition to her design and landscape training, she has worked in public gardens, gardens centers and a well-known perennial nursery, giving her a broad based knowledge of plants.
Kimberly received her BA from North Carolina State University in landscape design.
When Kimberly isn’t at the drawing table or in the garden, she enjoys spending time with her husband and boys and traveling to new places.
