Change is at the heart of the landscape business. Similar to the plants we install, Browder-Hite has grown and flourished. Originally founded in 2003 as Eastern Shore Landscape Management, Browder-Hite in Exmore, VA, has steadily grown and developed an excellent reputation for quality of work, creative design, innovative solutions, and friendly faces.

When rebranding the company in 2015, President Benjamin Lewis looked to his grandmothers for inspiration, combining their maiden names to form Browder-Hite. As ‘children of the Depression,’ both Mary & Elva had to rely on self-determination, hard work, and sacrifice in order to thrive. Those values guide Benjamin today, and it’s the qualities we look for when welcoming new team members into the Browder-Hite family.

Benjamin Lewis
President
Benjamin is the President and founder of Browder-Hite.
From its humble beginnings out of Benjamin’s home in 2003, he has grown the company to become one of the region’s largest providers of landscape design, installation, and maintenance to residential and commercial clients alike. Operating out of multiple locations with experienced staff, Benjamin guides a firm that now offers complete turn-key options for every outdoor issue a homeowner or property manager may encounter.
Benjamin received his BA from Greensboro College and MA from Florida State University.
Wayne Cunningham
Finance Manager
Wayne is responsible for the financial records and management of finance at Browder Hite. In this role, Wayne manages budgeting, A/P and A/R accounts, billing and forecasting with the management team. Wayne has an extensive ownership background in small business, most recently owning and operating a commercial food supply firm servicing the greater Philadelphia, Lancaster and Bucks County, PA region. He also has experience in landscape materials supply, the alternative fuels industry and non-profits. His broad, long-term business experience and calm demeanor are major assets as he helps oversee the financial health of the company.Wayne received his associate’s degree in business administration from Central Penn Business School. Wayne is proudly married to Donna Cunningham and thoroughly enjoys deer hunting, the great outdoors and his grandchildren.
Susan Springer
Susan is the heartbeat of Browder-Hite. With a career-long background in office management at the municipal level, Susan brings experience, friendliness and professional competence to the office daily. Responsible for the overall management of a busy landscape office, Susan can be found answering phones, sending invoices, adjusting schedules, handling client requests or setting up an order for supplies, among other things.
Susan came to Browder-Hite after a long and distinguished career as the office manager of the public works department of Frederick, MD. Managing up to 80 employees, Susan was responsible for scheduling, budget management, HR requests, interfacing with the community and project stakeholders and managing contractor requests and budgets, to name a few tasks.
A native of the Middle Bay area of Maryland and a graduate of Frederick Community College in Frederick, MD, Susan is a proud resident of Exmore and enjoys fishing of all kinds, baking and spending time with friends and family.
Donna Childers
Business Development
Donna has over 30 years of experience with financial and office management matters, including account management and customer service. While in the banking industry she served as a commercial loan administrator, executive administrative assistant, officer in charge of security, customer service representative, and as a teller.
At Browder Hite, Donna served in the role of Office Manager for 8 years before transitioning to Client Relations in 2023. In this new role she uses her extensive knowledge of our clients, their properties and the plants/climate of the Eastern Shore to provide professional solutions and results.
Donna earned her Associate’s Degree in General Banking from the American Institute of Banking while working full time. She enjoys spending as much time as possible with her daughters, Michaela, Rebecca and her grandchildren. Donna also serves at the Rock Church of the Eastern Shore on the music ministry team, as the children’s church director and as the VBS sports camp director.
Ty Warren
General Manager
An Eastern Shore of Virginia man by all accounts, Ty came to Browder-Hite with extensive landscape experience. Most recently Ty founded, owned and operated Shore Lawn Care Solutions for 10 years, during which time he grew the company substantially through sales and acquisitions. At Browder-Hite, Ty is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business and assisting Benjamin Lewis with long term planning and forecasting. Well known for his friendly personality, helpful nature and inside-information of the Eastern Shore, Ty is the guiding hand during the daily workings of the company.
A lover of anything sports and the outdoors, Ty is especially fond of Duke basketball, the Masters golf tournament and spending time with his wife and family.
